Natela Doghonadze is a Doctor of Sciences in Education. She defended her PhD concerning methods of teaching vocabulary in middle school and did her Postdoctoral studies in EFL course-book design for adult learners.
She worked for Georgian Technical University from 1983 to 2006, since 2006 she has been a Professor and a Vice Rector at International Black Sea University. She authors more than 200 publications, among them (some with co-authors) 14 books and has supervised 36 defended PhD dissertations. She has been teaching diverse courses dealing with literature, English Language Teaching and Education. Authored the following projects: “Teaching English to Adults (Industry, Engineering, Business)” (stage I &II) sponsored by Open Society Georgia Foundation (March-December 1995; March-December, 1996); “English for Transport and Travel” #C97-0002-1997 sponsored by Eurasia Foundation (USA) (1997-1998); national project organized and sponsored by Educators’ and Scientists’ Free Trade Union of Georgia, the goal of which was to make up materials and to train according to them school teachers ofEnglish for national certification exam (March 2008-January 2008). Coordinated at International Black Sea University TEMPUS project MAHATMA 530311-TEMPUS-1 2012-1-AM-TEMPUS-JPCR (2012-4000/001-001) – Master in Higher Education Management: Developing leaders for managing educational transformation (November 2012-November 2016). Regularly delivers trainings for university and school teachers.
